what does this mean?

Hi there. Having had my head in the sand for a few years now I am trying to get some perspective on my problems and deal with them. The first step was to read lots on here, gain some courage and get a credit report from Experian. It shows a default dated april 05, but its been updated recently by Lowell Portfolio Ltd. A search by Lowell Financial Ltd - an unrecorded enquiry - on 7 aug 08. The account went into default April 05 and had just been updated by Lowell Portfolio 31 Aug 08 with a status of [8] (red). I have not had any dealings with them at all, it looks as if they have been searching against an old address. What does all this mean? I am frightened. Thanks for any advice you all may be able to offer
