Odd Credit Search.....Can anyone help?

Hey all,
Just done a credit search on my self and i'm a little confused with the result.
On the previous searches page I have had a search done by "Shop Direct Financial Services Ltd" the odd thing is I have not applyed for credit in the last 6 months and more weird than that the credit search has only been on my old addresses.
I have no idea who this company is nor can I find any trace of them. Could any one tell me who they are? and why they would just be looking at my old addresses?

Final question how long before things begin to drop off your credit profile? I heard it was 6 years, if it is what point is this from (I.E. the date of account settlement or the date the credit account was setup)?

Thanks Guys.:rotfl:

Hi not too sure if this will help or not but Shop Direct Financial Services Ltd rang a bell with me.
Have you taken out any catalogues i.e. Littlewoods, Empire or Additions Direct? Think that is where I have seen the name before.

If its only a search they usually come off after 12 months depending on the credit file you are looking at.

Not trying to scaremonger here, but there is a slight possiblility someone may have tried to apply for a shopping account with them in your name and your old address.

Earlier this year I received a letter from Next thanking me for applying for an account with them and asking for some proofs if ID so they could complete the application and send me my catalogue and account details. That was news to me, so as there was a phone number to call for enquiries, I called them to ask what was going on. They explained this was a new security measure they were taking to help stop people opening accounts fraudulantly, and as I hadn't applied just ignore it and the request would be cancelled.

No idea if this is the case or not here (haven't done a free credit report trial yet, either, so I can't help there, sorry), though, just thought it might be worth bearing in mind?
