Been stupid - clay cat litter in the shower!

Options
I'm wondering if anyone can help me.

I did something a bit stupid last night without thinking.

I've got a new kitty and bought some clay cat litter to use in his tray but when I went to clean it out (using the shower to rinse) the shower clogged up and doesn't want to unblock.

Does anyone know of any 'product' which will unblock the plughole without having to call a plumber out.

I'm worried that the clay may be very difficult to unblock.

Any help is appreciated.

I would say plenty of hot water - boil a kettle and a few pans and get a bit of metal coat hanger or small flexipipe and wiggle as you pour the water down....

Once it's reasonably clear chuck some soda crystals and boiling water down the drain. Bicarb and vinegar will also start fizzing it down the drain, sprinkle some bicarb in the plughole and tip vinegar on top - will fizz like mad but should help.

  • try soaking with Calgon (Sodium Hexametaphosphate) we use it in the lab to disperse clay in water. If you don't have any there's some of the same chemical in most washing powders so try that.

  • Thanks all,

I got some wire and hot water and that seemed to work ok, at least it had nt dried in the pipe.

Will try not to do it again.
