My Debt Free Diary..

Evening everyone

So, i am now a fair few weeks into my first month of my 'Debt Free Wannabe' attitude. Actually im over that as i get paid next Tuesday
Yay!
And for the first time in god knows how long, i have money left!!!
I currently have £410 left in my bank account, and thats after filling up a full tank of petrol which *should* last me until pay day again - depending on how many times i go visit my lil nephew
£410 May not be alot to some - or it may be alot! I am not too sure to be honest because i have never had money left over at this point?! But to me, it is alot!!
And actually, the only reason i am looking forward to pay day, is so i can pay off some more money on the credit cards/debts!!!
I'm getting well into this saving malarky!! I just cant believe how little i have spent this month, i have managed to get my nationwide creditcard down from £1560, to £460! And actually i think there is another £100 payment which i am waiting to clear through the bank, so i have got it down to £360! In a month?! Plus i managed to take £125 off my virgin card too. I actually am aiming to get rid of both credit cards by January. I know i should be focusing on the Black Horse finance, but i think it will make me more focused to get two debts out the way, rather than focusing on the black horse and still having the credit cards to tackle...
I have splurged a little this month too - slap my wrist eh
... Me and OH decided that we wont be going out for weekends up till xmas because we just want to clear our debts - Sooo we decided to get sky! I know its £47 a month we could pay off our debts - BUT we would spend a hell of a lot more than that in one night out let alone each month.
Had a really good weekend actually, and managed to spend nothing!! It was my mums Bday (I had already paid for her present) me and my sis took her to london for a meal and to see Grease (Excellent BTW!) And my mum insisted on paying for the travel tickets and my sister insisted on paying for the drinks at the meal. As we had already paid for the food (It was alastminute deal thing) i ended up paying for nothing!! I did offer ofcourse - but they wouldnt take it!
And today, i even went shopping with my mum - and bought nothing
Soo all seems to be going well and i am hopefully on track to be a nice debt free 2009

Hi,
Just wanted to say well done - you're doing really well.
Good luck for the wedding.
A thought - re the court case. Did you buy the goods with a credit card? You should be able to claim the cost back from the CC company.
Good luck with the DFW and wedding plans

Hi urg123,
Thanks for your reply
Yeh i did buy the goods by credit card, i did email my credit card company about this as someone at work mentioned it but they just replied 'Sorry we are unable to help at this time' ... so i just left it.
They have until Tuesday to respond otherwise i wint he case on default anyway, so hopefully!! But i think i will double check with my credit card company anyway - i thought i was covered with this!!
Well done on your DFW journey - you have repaid loads
yay you!!!
I think i might brave the whole NSD next month....!BCT:[strike]£16,500 [/strike] £0 HFC CURRYS: [strike]£520[/strike] £0 HFC PC WORLD: [strike]£800[/strike] £0 ARGOS CARD: [strike]£795[/strike] £0 ADDITIONS DIRECT: [strike]£625[/strike] £0 NATIONWIDE CC: [strike]£1560[/strike] £0 VIRGIN CC: [strike]£1500[/strike] £0 :j0 -
Thought i had better update this to try and keep me on track before i run away with spending again!!
Well i havent been over taken with spending, as such, i did buy an album off of Aazon (for the cheapest price i could find of a whole 1.99!) So although not a big spend, i also ended up in tesco buying lunch/magazine/god knows what. This was about £9 and then the next day i did go back and buy a load of stuff for the soldiers in Iraq - it came to about £15. (My bosses son is over there and we can send them little 'gift boxes' of things like nuts etc so i think its for a worthy enough cause!)
I kind of feel guilty though that i have actually spent some money?? Even though its not a lot, i was too scared to add it all up incase it came back to incredible amounts.
Also, my account has gone into a minus  Accidently really...Basically I bought many things from work to sell/as xmas presents for my mum to give out, and so i had to write them a cheque, or i could have got it taken out of my wages. As i had £200 in my account left i thouhgt i might as well pay for it then while i have the money rather than being short next month. So work cashed the cheque mighty quickly, i suppose its because of the value of it. And my mum wrote me a cheque for £119.
What i didnt realise was, by the time i had got to my bank to cash the cheque, AOL broadband had taken out a direct debit of £39. (I have just joined them this month and didnt know when my billing date was - have since rang them and apparently its the 12th of each month so god knows why they have taken it out on 20th!!)
So on top of that £39, my bank also charged £49 in the minus. Have cashed some cheques - shamefully i finally cashed my bday cheques from 2ND JULY!!! - i am useless with cheques. So that will clear that.
Have made some money from ebay this month, although 90 has gone into an account which i no longer have the card for, and i am debating whether to leave it in and let it rise with interest or just use it for me debts (the rate of interest wont change it much i dont think!!)
And hae another £105 in paypal i need to transfer out today - so that will bring my nationwide card down to £260!!!!!!!!!! :rotfl: :T
I also won my court case for a refund - :j So thats another £465 which i am going to whack on the virgin card!!!!
Its pay day in 2 days and i cannot wait to clear some more debts

Evening Guys and Girl

Just thought i would try and keep this going, i know there are alot of diaries going around and mine isnt exactly the most exciting of them
But i think it helps keep me on track... Sort of.
Havent really felt like i have been sticking to the debt free budget. Although im not too sure what i have bought??
I bought a dress for xmas parties/xmas day from next - but even that should have been £100 and i got it for £25 so i think that was a bargain.
I only have one account left to tackle, my virgin Credit card, which has £1300 on it. I have just received today a cheque in the post for £465
which i am going to put straight on the Credit Card!! I also have 3 things selling on ebay at the minte... One at £25, one at £43.90 both with only an hour to go, and also i have got one item going for £50 at the minute with 3 days to go!!
I also have £560 in the bank, but i do need £380 for rent so that will still leave me with £180 which i plan to put on the credit card too - ohhh and i sold my spare phone on ebay which i am waiting for the money to reach my bank after being transfered to paypal - i got £230 for that
so thats even more for the credit card!!
So £465 refund cheque today plus £180 in bank, plus £230 phone, plus £100 for items going on ebay = £975!!!! Oh wow! Thats cheered me up a bit
So that means hopefully with my bonus i can clear the card this month.. and be debt free!!! I also have more things i can chuck on ebay - so will have to get round to that!!
I just want it to be next yeat so i can start saving
Although where to save i havent even thought about that or where to put it.... With the crappy interest rates, i think under my bed is best!!!
I dont actually feel as if i am cutting back though, i am still getting everything i need and there isnt anything i actually want so it just goes to show how much i wasted money! I suppose though because its coming up to xmas i dont need to buy anything because i will get it for xmas...
BUT i am gonna find it hard to resist the sales!!!!
These last few weeks are gonna be the hardest because i am already thinking oh it doesnt matter ive cleared this much i can clear it one day - but i shall try and stick to it!!
Its definatly gonna be worth it...BCT:[strike]£16,500 [/strike] £0 HFC CURRYS: [strike]£520[/strike] £0 HFC PC WORLD: [strike]£800[/strike] £0 ARGOS CARD: [strike]£795[/strike] £0 ADDITIONS DIRECT: [strike]£625[/strike] £0 NATIONWIDE CC: [strike]£1560[/strike] £0 VIRGIN CC: [strike]£1500[/strike] £0 :j0 -
hello, just read through your thread and wanted to say congratulations on paying so much off so far.
