Has your bank helped you get out of debt?

I was wondering if your bank offered to help or has some advice guides that have helped or would help you get out of debt?
If this is the case how useful was their advice? I am just curious to see which banks are helping out their customers and what you think of their advice
Thanks

The only banks that offered me any reassurance or advice were Cahoot and Capital One who both recommended I contacted CCCS and froze interest and charges as soon as I contacted them to say I was having difficulties (although I had been struggling for a while)0

Cahoot were very good with me over a car loan that went a bit awray when my Dad was terminally ill. They put in place a payment plan, spoke to me like a human being, gave me a named individual to deal with who kenw my situation..............................I completely respect them for that and as a result, when I was working again, they were top of my repayment lists.
God the Halifax and there 10 calls a day on the day my Dad died could learn so much from them.Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!0 -
Co-Op/Smile treated me like a human being too, I think Cahoot is part of the same group. Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0

We were helped a bit by Yorkshire Bank who we did our daily banking with and had a loan with. They used to extend our overdraft or cover dds that were going out when no funds were in on a temp basis. Saying that though it was probably only because it was what they called a Premium Account and we had to pay 120.00 a year for it. (My DH had it long before I came along and never got round to switching to a non fee one. )Just a mum trying to make things happen!0

I was with Barclays and they were awful. They were the only ones to reject my offer of payment through the CCCS (although they did eventually give in!). SO glad to be shot of them!! As soon as that debt is cleared I will have a bash at reclaiming all the charges they walloped me with!**Keep Calm and Carry On!**0

I thought YB were being good when they got rid of the £8 daily charge for being over the overdraft limit. Until I got a letter saying they were introducing a £25 daily charge on top of the £25 monthly one. As soon as I figure out how to get the list of charges without it costing me a fortune I'll be reclaiming, they've had hundreds off me, mostly this year.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0

Not really, YB credit card advised about going to CCCS, eventually, they did reduce payments and frooze intrest no charges for a while, but later changed to still pay reduced payments and no charges, but interest will be added, so I could pay them £50 amonth and pay £0.03 off my balance !!!!!!
YB loan didn't want to know or offer any help
Nat West, have passed the account on to a DCA, account went overdrawn due to charges and they kept adding them, got the reclaim letter in (not sure if they should have passed the account to a DCA as the account is in dispute?)
An tNat west wanted to charge £10 for statements for the last year (wonder if an SAR would get round that)PROUD TO BE DEALING WITH MY DEBT NERD #869

When I lost my job when OH was made redundant I rang the Abbey to tell them we would be facing some financial difficulties, I also told them I had got a new job but it would be six weeks before I got my first wage.....As it was time to review our overdraft they promptly withdrew it - without notice.....
I have since reclaimed my bank charges and am now fighting the default notice they placed on my credit file - backdated to before i settled.
Bank of scotland where awful, hundreds of automated calls day after day after day. Capital one were excellent as were barclaycard...Quality is doing something right when no one is looking - Henry Ford

seems like the banks are quick to act when you in trouble but dont do anything before?Dec 31 2009 target: Currently have SAVED: £2963/£20 000
