Mike.
In english....
25ms is not quarter of a second ! 250ms is though !
If it took quarter of a second to update the screen....you would miss a lot of eastenders or coronation street
Apart from that I agree with most of what jellacott has posted0 -
I read online (I can't find the link now) that the Dell LCD TV's are Samsungs and their Monitors are Benq.
I have two Dell LCD monitors, one has an 8ms response time and the other 25ms response time. To be honest the difference in picture quality is only slight, when playing a dvd on both monitors side by side, although you can see some difference close up, from a distance they look the same and the response time issues can only be seen when the dvd is paused from my experiences.
I heard that Somerfield are doing a 32' lcd tv for £399, I'm not sure of the specs or anything other than that though I'm afraid.0 -
Oops. My maths went iffy there. Sorry. Thanks for the numerous and speedy corrections. How will I every learn?
The point still remains 25ms response time blows. It may look fine from a distance, but potentially most TV pictures can look fine from a distance, that doesn't make them good pictures.

I don't think it's as clear cut as that, some will look better than others. That's why it is important to see the TV in person in my opinion. Like I said, there is little difference between my 25ms and 8ms monitors, both are Dell and yes the 8ms does look clearer and better but personally I wouldn't spend a few hundred extra just to get that difference.0 -
Fair enough. I personally don't want to pay £400 for something that I don't consider good enough quality when I can get the quality I want for £600. For something that will be used quite regularly, spending £400 on something you don't like is quite a lot of money. But £600 on something you do like isn't.
The problem with the Dell W2600 was that there is no way of seeing it in the flesh before I could of bought it. I saw the 26ms response time and the £390 price tag, and was put off. It had to be that cheap for a reason.0 -
Samsung all the way... stretch that little bit further and go for one

Hi Guys
I have recently purchased the 26" acoustic solutions lcd screen. I paid 399 for it and it has gone into my bedroom. I cannot fault the sound and the picture is more than fine for a bedroom tv. As for viewing angles, i have it quite high on my wall and view it from a low bed and the picture does not alter at all.
I highly recommend this for the price.

Which magazine tested LCD TV's and Sony came first and second. Not the cheapest but Sony have always had a good reputation when it comes to tv's. I want to get one but I am waiting for prices to come down. The cheapest place for the Sony's I found was richer sounds - but you might be able to get one slightly more expensive elsewhere that includes a stand (around £100-£150 otherwise).
Also I think the bigger the lcd screen the poorer the picture. If you can do with a 27 inch go for the 27 inch Sony.
I think you should also look into high definition as this is the technology that will be transmitted in the near future.
hope this helps.Regards

I bought THIS Philips 26" for my daughter from Dixons recently (spent just under £20 more on some blank dvds to be able to use a £50 off £600 voucher) and she says it's very good.Same old same old since 20080

Folks, my son has been saving up for ages and has sold anything thats not bolted down to buy an LCD for his new xbox 360.
His budget is probably around £400 - £500 max, can anyone shed some light on what we should be looking for here? The xbox has HD output but i'm not sure how feasible an HD ready LCD TV is?
Any thoughts?0
