Not too sure if this post is in the right place.. but anyway..
I signed up to Sky back end of Nov 05. I sent off all my direct debit details ect.. Received a letter today confirming my debit schedule. This is basically what is says..
"Your payments are due monthly in advance
The current price for your 2 mix and any chosen extra viewing options is £0.00 per month
As your initial bill covers the period from 27/11/2005 to 26/01.2006, your first payment on this occassion will be £0.00. This will come out of your choosen bank account on or just after 27/12/2005
From then on, your payment of £0.00(excluding any offers) will be collected on or just after the 27th of every month."
Can I hold them to this arrangement?? :santa2:

yup that's what I'm aiming to do.. but if I can't hold them to it, I don't wanna get caught short if ya get what i mean0 -
I'm sure if they noticed after a couple of "payments" ;-) then they couldn't make you pay up for their mistake (could be the banks mistake). I think they could only change the direct debit agreement from the date they find out.
Let us know what happens after your first payment date - it'd be interesting to see what happens.0 -
The Originator, in this case Sky, must give you advance notice before attempting to collect money from your account. As the amount to be collected states it is £0.00 that is all they can collect - no more and no less. They must collect that amount on or just after (within 3 working days) of the specified date, else they forfeit the right to collect that money through the DD scheme.
The DD mandate you agreed to probably allows the Originator to vary the amount and collection dates as they feel fit, although they must still give you advance notice before collecting any amount. The default notice period in the absence of any other agreement is a minimum of 10 working days plus postal time. Any amounts collected without following these rules can be recovered immediately from your bank under the terms of the Direct Debit Guarantee.
The DD scheme is only the method in which you pay for services. The amount owed to the supplier will be based on the terms & conditions of the supply contract you agreed with them."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
Hmmm ok... maybe I should be telephoning them then?? However, still dosen't make sense why they haven't ste the first 3 dd at £7:50 a month as per their advertised offer.
Bit bizarre all the same, considering these companies make and don't wanna loose millions of pounds. 0
