Often if you ask for 'price matching' they will want proof that you can get it elsewhere at the lower price you claim. This can be difficult if the lower price is one you've already managed to get discounted so I ask them to help me out, 'could you just jot that down for me please - one of your business cards / letter heading will do ..and with your name so I know who to come back to, Thanks.' . Armed with this proof time to see if we can get any lower elsewhere.
Also remember to price in the value of any free delivery, installation and removal of old, esp bulky white goods, when deciding the price negotiated. Going to the tip, borrowing a van, your time & or paying the council bulk rubbish collection charge is a factor to consider.

:j always remnd them, and myself, that when times are hard half a loaf is better then none, and if only a crust is available then that's still better than nothing so I'll settle for that.
