From this, I guess the rates dentists charge are similar and one isn't going to be loads more expensive than another for the same work?
No - you'll probably find big differences.
A city centre specialist cosmetic practice will be a lot dearer than a suburban converted house sort of family practice.
That's why I recommend getting some sort of price guide as part of the search.
Dental practices in the same area probably have very similar running costs, but how the practice covers these costs could be very different.
Some dentists might be quite slow and take their time, and make sure all options are discussed with the patient. This sort of practice will get through fewer patients per hour and so be a bit dearer than a practice that gets people in and out a bit quicker.
If you prefer to be kept a bit better informed, you might prefer the first type of practice. If you want cheap, you'll probably have to accept the second type. How to find a dentist.
1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.0 -
Thanks for all your help. I think better attention would be better, so maybe your original advise is best, to spread the work out as I can afford it. After all, I'm not in a desperate state, I just know that a bit of 'maintenance' is needed! Thanks a million.0
