  • And also so quick to sell their debts to Crapquest, a parasite debt buyer which features often in complaints to this board.
  • I have to agree as well about Egg being pretty good. I have an Egg loan, but I did have an Egg loan and an Egg credit card. At the time (pre-lightbulb moment) I was making the payments on my cc but just spending up to my limit again before the end of the month so I was getting nowhere. They contacted me and suggested I put my cc balance onto the loan, with the stipulation that I cancel my Egg card account. Recognising now what I was like, I would have just spent on my Egg cc again if they hadn't made me do that. I'm now paying off the one loan and at the end of the term I will have paid back all that I owe. If they hadn't offered and made me cut my card up I could have been in a worse situation. It also reduced my monthly payment overall which has helped.

Also, when I missed a payment they were great, and let me pay the arrears amount over 6 months, and talked to me about whether I was coping with the payments, and if there were any problems, if I wanted to go over any other options with them.

It's less stressful if you feel they want to work with you to help you pay back your debt and understand that people can have problems.

Debt at highest - £97,000

Debt now (15/06/07) - £83,908.47 (still  but every little helps!)
Debtfree Date - 2015 (but working on it)!

  • no doubt they do but i dont want to get into that situation. In my oppinion they are keen to help before that happens. im not saying they are perfect because which company is? they are obviously looking out for their own interests as well. all im saying is that they have given me some sound advice which can only be good for them because it means i wont just stop paying them and they will get back the full amount i owe.

  • And isn't it right that you can also make extra payments on your egg loan when you are able to,so that when the other cc is paid off you can then concentrate even more on paying off the egg debt, Well done.
  • absolutly! my plan is

MBNA (just found out at 19.9%)
    Egg Loan 7.9%
    Barclaycard MC 5.9%
    BC Visa 2.9%
as both barclaycards are on decent life of balances i will leave them till last!

  • i dont know if anyone else is aware but egg have a fantastic new team of borrowing specialists. theyve sent me a couple of emails explaining that if im ever in financia l dificulties or want to talk with someone impartially about debt then they have a new team of people who can help with budgeting ideas etc. now dont get me wrong i thought this all sounded a bit suspect coming from a company but on ringing up for a payment break they asked me if i wanted to chat to someone about my financial situation. i though what the hell and so i did. after telling her my situation:

    MBNA 3.5k outstanding 18.9%
    Barclaycard Visa 3.5K @2.9% LOB
    Barclaycard Mastercard 2K @6.9% LOB
    Egg Money 1k @15.9%
    Egg Green 5K @15.9%
Egg Loan 5K left of 9K loan @7.9%

    total 18K

after discussing many options and talking about budgeting and they even MENTIONED THIS SITE they put my loan and egg cards together in a new loan - closed my egg cards and put my loan over the longest period and basically told me to pay off my MBNA card first then come back and pay more off of the loan every month.

they were very helpfull and were not condesending in any way. they talked about switching gas and leccy companies and all sorts. obviously i have already done all that being a member of this site but its nice to think that some companies are starting to do the right thing.

Don't foget about the free advice on here. And it's impartial! :D

I agree with southernscouser. The people on this site are brilliant and very helpful. I've learned in last three months here more about finance than in 5 years of my formal accounting and financial training.

I wish a very Happy Christmas to everyone! :xmassign: Hopefully all your financial wishes will become true next year! :xmastree:

Egg sold my debt to capquest earlier this year. I'm sorry but i have had absolutely no probelm with them. I have found them to be more than helpful, polite at all times and actually nice to talk to. I pay them monthly through CCCS, whether this makes a difference or not i really don't know but i cannot understand why so many people have so many problems with them and no i do not work for them. In fact i was on the phone to CCCS this morning who also said they have no problems dealing with Capquest, Wescot, or Thames credit, the 3 which appear the most on message boards as being bad to deal with.
