Hi All
This is abit of a long shot but was wondering if anybody could advice.
I have been advised to go bankrupt by cccs, the problem is i am due to start in the fireservice in January and am worried that this might affect that. i know that as a bankrupt there are certain professions that you can no longer be involved in and was wondering if the fireservice is one of them.
thought i would ask all the boffins on here (whose knowledge is greatly apreciated by the way) to see if you would know, if not then thanks for reading anyway.......Wazza

Probably no issue at all as its not a FSA regulated job (in the financial industry), but then again, the Police Federation has a clause that they can no longer go BR - although in recent years not a single officer has lost his/her job because of it, the fire service may possibly have something similar.
I would strongly recommend though that you contact the fire services union and pose the question to them. Get the answer direct from the horses mouth, so to speak.0 -
Thanks o the reply skylight think i will get on the firservice union asap. Thanks againNorn Iron Club No:468

Yep, you could make an anonymous call to them and ask.
I couldn't go BR last year because my job was regulated by the FSA as I worked in an advisory role in Financial services. I think it's usually those jobs that are affected and certain jobs in banks.Debt 30k in 2008.:o Cleared all my debt in 2013 and loving being debt free

I certainly hope you are not affected as I do not think fire service/ambulance/nurses or doctors should lose jobs or not be able to get one due to being bankrupt. It would make no sense whatsoever to me.
Best of luck. Some Days are Diamonds Some Days are Stones,Sometimes the hard times won't leave meBSC 162:beer:Banktupt 22 Oct 2008 at 10am!0 -

There was still nothing, but you could see it.0 -
 Well I personally think that is awful, what on earth does being bankrupt do to stop you being a police person! Unless they think you are gonna rob banks!
Or nip off with the spoils of someone who has, come on there are bent coppers who are not bankrupt! I really think there has to be a specific line as to why someone should not hold a certain job, finance yes I can see that issue, but even then a bank admin person, has no access to money so why does she/he have to lose their job. Makes little to no sense whatsoever really.
We have a government holding office though that has almost bankrupt the country and yet no one has sacked any of them!:mad:Some Days are Diamonds Some Days are Stones,Sometimes the hard times won't leave meBSC 162:beer:Banktupt 22 Oct 2008 at 10am!0 -

Hi Wazza
My OH is a serving FO in Glasgow - we declared BR on 27/10/05 and just recevied our dishcharge on 27/10/08.
His advice is if you have passed all of your background checks and have your start date don't tell them as they don't need to know - keep your nose clean for probation period and also make sure you have a bank account to have your salary paid into

apparently the issue with bankruptcy (bankrupcy?? sp.) is that the organisations consider a person more liable to bribery. Which makes sense in a policing sense but not sure how it applies in the fire service?"a workman, even of the lowest and poorest order, if he is frugal and industrious, may enjoy a greater share of the necessaries and conveniences of life than it is possible for any savage to acquire."0
