I'd like to show my appriciation to a dental practice...any ideas?

Hi there, I was wondering whether any of you good people would help me with my question....(toothsmith, you'd be more than welcome!:D )

Basically, I'm a dental phobic, but have found a wonderful practice, my dentist is great, and so are all the other staff. I'm still petrified, but I seem to be able to cope. They've helped me so much with my phobia, that I recently managed to sit through having 8 crowns done cosmetically. I have severe flourosis, with mottling and pitting - but now I can smile all lovely like this :D I paid £3000 in total (don't know if that makes any difference to my question...which is coming I promice lol).

The practice manager has given me free hygenist appointments, and I've had floss and other things given to me free too. They took lots of photos too - which I hope they'll use for before and after lol.

Sadly one of the crowned teeth didn't really appricate getting crowned. The x-rays taken before they were crowned were all clear, so it appears to be a c'est la vie thing. That particular tooth is now in the process of being root filled, which they're also doing at no charge.

Now - here's the question - I'd really like to show my appriciation for my dentist and the staff at my dental practise - they've gone above and beyond in so many ways. Now, what would people think is a suitable token of my appriciation? Unfortuantly I don't have a massive budget (the £3k took care of that lol), but I'd really love to show them that I'm grateful for all their work.

Thank you in advance!

but now I can smile all lovely like this :D

That's probably thanks enough for them, look after your teeth now, and keep going back for your check ups.
Well done, I think you are really brave! xxx
Hey just a thought though, what about a vase, and their first (small) bunch of flowers?

The nurses always appreciate a nice box of choccy biccies (YES I KNOW - BUT WE'RE HUMAN!), and a bottle of wine for the dentist?
    How to find a dentist.
    1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
    2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
    3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
    4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.

Why can't the nurses have wine AND biscuits? Sounds like you intend to ... :rotfl:

One bottle of wine each for the nurses would be getting a bit dear. It's not something they can easily share - unless they consume it on the premesis!

I think just a card or letter, or like TS said chocolates & buscuits go down well. i remember when i helped a guy out and then he sent a letter via the practice manager to thank me (he even named me in it - and i dont mean by 'receptionist' lol) and it really gave me a boost. I stuck it up on my wall and everything lol

A big bunch of flowers and a fruit basket would be nice
  • Awww how lovely you are. They will be really chuffed that you are really happy, and I am sure that would be enough.
We love the choccy biscuits people being us on occasion, but what makes my girls really smile is when someone sends a card or letter to thank us as we keep a folder of these. They help when (not that its often ha ha!) someone has reason to complain it lets us know we're not all bad!
Whether you think you can, or think you can't, you are usually right.

my nan got her teeth done for my cousins wedding - they were in a shocking state and did not want to ruin her grandaughters wedding photos. she was dental phobic hence she had not got them seen to before . her local dentist were brill and really put her at ease - after that she willingly went for checkups and every december took them a tin of her home made mince pies to show her apreciation.

Aw, you are so nice to think of this.

I would send them a big thank you card, with a picture of you smiling (showing all your lovely teeth like this :D ) stuck inside it, saying they have changed your life and you could never find any gift that would equal that.

I would also write to your local paper and ask them to do a small piece on you and overcoming your phobia - they are always looking for stuff to write about, and the Dental practice will love the publicity and the praise.

Well done, from a fellow phobic.

  • Thank you all for your wonderful ideas!

I used to work in a shop (so not the same - although I was briefly a dental nurse - and a technician lol), and I remember a man taking the time to write a letter....it was framed and put on our wall :D

I think I will take the time to make a nice card, with my heartfelt thanks, and take either some biccys or choccys for them to all share - unfortuantly my car has gone bang, and I'm really on a budget this month.

    Thank you all again x
