Help:
My daughter is suffering from excema and whilst we find that Oilatum in her bath is a great help the price of a bottle is ludicrous, considering that it's just liquid paraffin and water.
Does anyone have any cheap but effective alternatives.
Thanks.

You should be able to get this on prescription from your GP so it will cost you nothing.0

well lol you didnt say 'in spain' on your post....when i went to spain last the pharmacies there had a good selection of medicated products, but i did notice the uk branded things were a lot pricier. can you not ask the pharmacist there what they recommend, i got by when i asked and i dont speak a word of spanish....Fr. If you want to try a natural alternative Grapeseed oil is very cheap and easily available. It is the one most often used by massage therapists as being least likely to cause allergies. :snow_grin:snow_laug HM Christmas 2010

Ask the pharmacy to recomend a bath emollient. Oilatum is just a branded emollient but there must be spanish versions.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Are you aware of the National Eczema Society? They won't recommend particular products but they are an excellent source of advice, information and support.
Also you could try Emulsifying Ointment BP: it is £3+ for a big pot in the UK and very versatile as both a moisturiser, bath additive and soap.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -

my son suffers the same and i have found oilatum jr is the best stuff.
i would not advise you to try a cheaper brand, as it took us 3 yrs to find the right combination of bath oil and skin creams.
go and ask your GP to put it on repeat perscription for you.
my son can now go swimming weekly, on holiday this year he went swimming 3 days on the trot (i would never have let him go without the oilatum jr)
i used it as a shower gel and his skin is the best it has ever been in over 3yrs0
