I applied for that account, and had no problems at all.Sent off cheque and within a wek had heard from them that they had opened the account and i could register over the internet.

The reduced rate of 6.30% is just the next issue after the 7.21% was withdrawn.I would ring them up there should be a tel no on his application form,or on the net.If you post this in the savings section you may get more advice.
  • thank you for your reply, did ring them last week, and they said would receive an e-mail the following day so could access the account, and a letter with username, have received none they said had experienced a high volume of applications. Also took about 10 attempts to get through to them on phone, not engaged, just an automated answer, saying welcome to the AA then just blank. Will try again, just for curiosity when did you apply for yours, as he applied immediately, and his chq was sent on 11/10.

Thanks again for your reply much appreciated. As for posting on a different forum, took me ages to do the one I did, as it was my first time

I will look up when i sent the cheque,it was about mid october

has his cheque cleared? if so maybe the username letter got lost in the post.
  • have visited that link but nothing on that helped, but thanks anyway. The cheque hasn't cleared in his bank, and no e-mail or username received, it is now a full week from last phoning, as I said they said would be received the following day if had not phoned would think they had not received the info and cheque. Not a good experience as the money has been sat getting no interest in his current account for a full month.

    Thanks again for your input.

Doesn't sound hopeful if they didn't receive cheque. There is probably no way you could send another ,but is it worth just ringing again and asking them do you think?
It was mid october when i sent the cheque and it took just a week before the account appeared on the internet. What a shame you have had problems,i think it has been trouble free for most people.
  • sent an e-mail to Customer Services a couple of days ago, they said they would pass it to the relevant department. Last night my partner had a call from them explaining what had happened. They had received all the relevant stuff, but all those who had to have their I.D. checked, ie. those who had not previously held an account with the aa were dealt with last. He also said they had not expected the volume of applications. The good news is that when it eventually gets opened they will backdate the interest to the date of receipt, ie. 13/10. and it will be opened at 7.21%. It will still be some time as it is being logged as a complaint, but feel ok about it now. Still don't know why the AA site shows the new rate of 6.30% as starting in September. Any:T way thanks again for your input, it was much appreciated.
