Best price for a Creative Zen X-Fi 8Gb mp3 player?

After lots of researching to find a good quality, versatile and reasonable capacity mp3 player, I have decided to try and get DS a Creative Zen X-Fi 8Gb which is currently £80.05 on Amazon. Second choice would be the Creative Zen 8Gb mp3 player (£69.99 on Amazon). Third choice would be either of these in 4Gb version. Aside from not wanting to overspend, my DS is rather heavy-handed with electronic items, so I also don't want to 'throw away' good money for this reason. :eek: But he loves his music (so the X-Fi sounds good) and his current 2Gb mp3 player is playing up and does not have enough capacity anyway.

So does anyone know where I can get a better price on one of these players and also I was thinking about getting the silicone skin to protect it. Are they worthwhile and where's the best place to buy?

Hi, Bought DD the 4gb Zen for xmas last year, didn't spend out on the 8gb as it has an sd card slot and I had some spares. The sound is brilliant as is the picture. She uses it when she travels for music and movies and it was a fantastic buy. She picked up a pack of silicon cases in HMV reduced to £4 for 3!

try kelkoo.co.uk Amazon is usually very competive. i''ve has 3 creative players in the past and sound id much better than ipod. (in my humble opinion)

I have a Creative Zen and if you wait a while the X-Fi will drop down in price on Amazon again. The prices on Amazon for Creative Zens seem to fluctuate quite a bit imo.

I`ve been waiting on a Creative Zen 4gb. The price was £44.99 about 4 weeks ago (should`ve have bought it then) and has now suddenly gone upto £58.99. This was the same for the Creative Zens and Zen X-Fi.

I would wait a few weeks and see if the prices come down. Amazon tend to be a dodgy putting up the price suddenly

I was originally going to go for the 4Gb but the price difference to the 8Gb is only around £10 on Amazon (unless anyone knows one cheaper anywhere?), and he will have no trouble filling 8Gb!:rotfl: The SD slot was one of the factors that made me choose the Creative Zen. :T And the built-in radio, decent headphones and DivX playback, all of which receive good reviews.

I think you can claim cash back from Amazon if there is a price drop within 30 days of you buying? Its about here somewhere but I don't have time to check.

I'll wait a little longer then. I can also claim a student discount of 5 %. Hope that doesn't affect my right to claim the change in price though?

Can't get student discount after all and still scratching around for a better price than Dixons/Amazon's current £79.05 for this. Any ideas how to bring the price down further? Otherwise I may just have to bite the expensive bullet...:eek:
