got a 1 and 4 year old and likely £100 on the youngest and maybe £150 on the 4 year old.
I agree though that £50 is fine - and as you say you arestruggling she really wont know any difference
I should add though that we dont really spend money on any presents at other times - ie some people tend to buy something all the time so we use this for things they need0 -
My 2 both had a token £10 each for their 2nd christmas which is when they were 1. They don't have the comprehension of christmas yet. Get her a cardboard box full of couloured paper! £50 is way way too much.Loving the dtd thread. x0

I wouldn't spend much, £10-£20 most. its not gonna make a difference if you spend a tenner or 10 grand, they wont understand much about it at that age.0

I have 2 daughters aged 2 and 3, My limit is £50 each and £50 on joint presents.
I already have their joint present, and after some clever buying it only cost me £30!
£150 is my max, but im sure if I try hard enough I can bring that down
When they were babies, they got one present from us, cause like you said, they were spoilt by family

Yes, I think £50 is more than enough, save it for the future when the christmas lists start, at 1 year old anything wrapped in pretty paper will keep them happy!
Will probably only be spendingg £100 each on DDs who are 15 & 17, don't want to get into debt. They like the day and Christmas dinner now as much as pressies, and I tend to get them things like socks, undies & toiletries, plus a couple of books/DVDs so they have more to open.0 -
Save the money now while you can....think I will be spending £50 max on my 13 mth old. That includes two pairs of PJs, slipper socks, two jigsaws, and some toys on 3 4 2 at Boots.
Other people will buy so he will have more than enough. I want him to have a realistic limit as he grows up too.0 -

Thanks to everyone for your replies
. I feel so much better after reading that. I think I will now get her one main pressie (I love the doll and pram idea Rachel83) and clothes for the coming year, pjs, dressing gown, slippers. I have already got her 3 lovely books. She will love just unwrapping things and looking at the tree.
Thanks for your help:T

Well me and my OH dont have kids at the moment but his sister has 3, now this christmas i thought i would buy the presents to save my OH money, but his sister txted him the other day with the item numbers from argos of what the kids want for christmas, he's only gone and bought them!!! I spent £20 on each kid which i thought was fair enough as my OH only gets £10 in a card i get stuff all. Im so mad! So now we have spent £100 in total on 3 kids and get £10 back! I think its just madness, I or my OH wouldn't dream of just sending her item numbers for what we or my kids would want!
I dont know is it me or is it her?

Hi , my daughter whos now 2 this year -I spent about £50 on her last year - got some bargins from ebay (they dont know the differance) her main toy is her brother- anyway i ended up giving away the fisher price train thingy and a hoover that were just cluttering up the house and barely touched - spend some more money on her birthday if youve got it - they soon start to cost you more with partys and stuff when they get older - you can make a fuss by wrapping the door with wrapping paper for her to burst through on christmas morning! dont let the commercialism get to you - its what you make it that counts! although we all get sucked in at some point of weakness!:jBR as of 14/1/2009
