Advice pls on Deposit Account

Hi

I was declared B.R on 8th Sept this year (60k unsecured no assets). My O.R (my new best friend) decided I did not have enough disposable income to pay into an IPA.
I have a medical condition which prevents me from getting a proper job and have an occupational pension that precludes me from getting any other financial assistance. I am self employed(ish)
I have explained to my O.R that I can work occasionally (the odd day or two self employed) and when I do it pays reasonably well but obviously I am unable to commit to a regular payment plan he was happy as my medical and financial records support this and advised me to keep a record as there may come a point at which this income may be deemed as a change of circumstances (ie if i could get back to regular work - unlikley but I live in hope) and he would have to review my situation.
I thought to make things easier I would open a Deposit account and use this to have this occasional income paid into to keep it separate from my Co-op cashminder (opened post B.R) however the co-op have declined my application for a deposit account due to .....wait for it....my credit history not being very good!! Seems a bit daft.
Any ideas where I can get a deposit account or any other type just to get this money into. I receive the money by electronic transfer and would like to be able to access it reasonably easy. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
Theories as to why it might have been refused on a postcard please to Tommo P.O Box 20 Grand Cayman (I wished)
Cheers

I am afraid there are only 2 accounts that are suitable for BR's and those are the Cashminder and the Barclays Cash account. Any other account will be refused. It is possible to open another Cashminder if that would help you.

Hi Tommo, you can have more than one co-op account, if you have someone who can open a joint account with you (even if only you operate it) Co-op will be more than happy to do that.

If you want a savings account then Chelsea building society gave me one as an undischarged bankrupt... I went into a branch and they were really friendly and helpful, not sure if it's more difficult applying online though.

they've just changed the terms on mine so I can withdraw as many times as I want (it used to have a limit of twice a year)

Edit: just re read your post and saw you wanted easy access ... probably not the best idea then as you don't get a card or anything!

Go with Peachy and TF's suggestion ;)

    Thanks,
I will look at the Chelsea and other B.S and I might try the post office, I was just hoping to be able to keep it simple (for me) by accessing online.

I've just been pm'd with advice on pre-paid cards so I'll take a look at them as well.
    Thanks for the advice
