home made selection boxes

Hi,
I did a quick search and saw a couple of posts on the crafty thread, but i was just wondering if anyone else was making home made selection boxes this year? And what ideas you have?
Me and the other half were thinking about buying baskets, filling the bottom with cartons of juice, then getting lots of small sweets, such as double dips, chomps etc and maybe a tube of sweets and some crisps and arranging them ontop. I know this sounds like the hamper thread now! But i was also wondering if anyone had any other ideas about how to present these things?
Would be great to see some finished pictures from people too if possible

This cost about £6.50 but since I've found cheaper places to get the pez and the tin was originally £2.50 but I bought some more reduced. You can get 99p tins at B&M bargains. Asda are still doing reduced priced lunch bags that could be used for selection boxes...
I'm planning to use the same sort of tin to make up a harry potter honey dukes hamper for my DS - probably for his birthday. I also have a kitten and dogs tin the same size. For a Dr Who fan I am considering using the tin above to do a bit of a selection of space/alien themed sweets too...

I like this idea too....
I could do something for my girls & also something for my Dad who has a real sweet tooth! I have done this kind of thing before & used a biscuit tin as my storage container.

I completely copied savingholmes
and filled these for my two boys...
The lunch tins were £1.25 half price in Asda. I filled with sweets I know they like. I have added tags with their names spelt out in foam letters. If you want the rainbow, you've got to put up with the rain :wave:0 -
You could keep to a theme, I did a liquorice basket for my FIL for Father's Day as he is a liquorice fanatic so I found lots of different liquorice sweets. If you want the rainbow, you've got to put up with the rain :wave:0

Good idea rainmac! I also did a sweetie box for my dad which was hard boiled sweets (one side was mints, one was fruit flavours)

I've done one for MIL - bought a jar and filled it with boiled sweets - BOGOFF so cost a total of £3 including the jar.
Also made 3 selection (post) boxes for nephews using gift boxes from Matalan (£2.50 for 2, Buy 2 get one free, so about 84p each) then bought multi packs of chocs when they were on special offer - crunchie, time outs, dairy milk etc scrunched up some tissue paper in the bottom and on top to pack them out- all around £1 - £1.20 a pack. So each box worked out at less than £4.00
Jar of "retro" sweets for OH - Jar one from set of 3 from Tesco (3 for £1.50) couple of multi pack of sweets from Asda (BOGOFF) £1 plus other sweeties bought as and when I saw them - Sherbet fountain, black jacks, sweet hearts etc. All told less than £4.000 -
seabee love those post box boxes0
