ITQ Level 3 or ECDL Advanced

Hi
I was wondering if anyone has done the ITQ Level 3 qualification or the
ECDL Advanced? Did it help with your employment prospects?
I'm doing the ITQ 3, which is an NVQ Level 3. I hope also to pass the
ECDL Advanced before I'm made redundant next year.
I have worked for the same employer for 20 years so going back in to the
job market I want to be reasured that these will help my prospects?

What have you done to make yourself more employable?
I guess I need some reasurance that age 50  when I do go that I'm not

to old to start a fresh.
:kisses3: Everyday above ground is a bonus!!:D

The ITQ is wider in that you need to gather points on a variety of IT tasks and knowledge whereas Advanced ECDL will be, at most, on 4 applications.

It seems to me the difference is that for ECDL you need to be able to do what is required in the tests but the ITQ should ensure you can use it in the workplace in a more independent way rather than just following specific instructions.

Both qualifications will be useful in proving your fitness for work in another organisation. Not the only thing, of course!

And you aren't too old at 50 - I'm older and exploring a move into a new area which is IT-related.

    Hi
I have passed a variety of IT exams by studying from home, and just going to a local learning centre for the exams.
I have completed :- CLAIT, CLAIT PLUS, IBT1 , IBT2, IBT3, EDCL and various smaller programmes (book keeping etc)
I am now looking to study for my next one!!! I have had a break for a couple of years and not sure which is my best option, and whether I can do home study and costs etc? I am interested in EDCL advanced perhaps? Do they do Clait Advanced?

    Thanks for any information!
  • Thanks for your reply little voice. I guess the reason I ask is that my Daughter works in recruitment but with graduates and she asked her boss if she was aware of these qualification and both hadn't heard of them.
I just wondered if they were popular in the work place and if they had helped anyone to get employment?

Im thinking of doing this but am unsure if its worthwhile. Do they still do ECDL, I was told that ECDL was replaced by ITQ when I did level 2

iTQ "replaced" ECDL only in respect of some funding to colleges.
The original ECDL still exists - can even be used as partial evidence for an iTQ.
