Hi, This is my first Thread and i hope its in the right forum!!!
Just wondered if anyone out there knew if any websites exist that give you money to recycle old books to them in a similar way that the likes of "mopay" do with old mobiles??
I know that i could just take them to a 2nd hand bookshop but the one that is local to me only takes on books that they actually want, not just whatever you bring in, which is fair enough as they have to sell them on.
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated
Thanx

If you just want rid of them then charity shop them, or find a supermarket with a bin for recycling books. If you want to see if they are worth anything then try completed auctions on ebay, Amazon marketplace (I'll bump the long thread on the ebay board) or even greenmetropolis.
Lots of us on the ebay and other auctions board sell books so come and join us. However many books have no intrinsic value so don't be disappointed , for instance you'll be hard pressed to give a book like 'The Da Vinci code' away for free.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I would like to mention ReadItSwapIt for getting rid of unwanted books. The idea is that you make a list of the books you don't want, and if anyone fancies one, they show you their own list and you swap! It's very easy to do and I have had some great books for just the cost of posting.
I found out about RISI from a post in MSE so I'm sort of returning the compliment!!;)Blagged: free samples of handwash from Molton Brown; booklet of walks from Brecon Carreg;
Free Diabetes monitor, free bee-friendly seeds, a MINI coin and a splash-proof book from Radox.:T0 -

Hey,
As above - amazon, ebay etc all good for raising some cash out of unwanted books. With amazon you can check how much you can list the book for and it'll tell you how much you'll receive after deducting fees etc.
Are any of these books academic/educational or from a student course required reading list? If so http://www.sellstudentstuff.com is a handy site to register with.

I think you might want to re read their terms. An standard book sells on Greenmet for £3.75 and that is all the buyer pays, of that the seller gets £3 out of which they have to pay for their own post and packing. Some books that are heavy now have the advantage that extra postage can be added.
I have about 150 books listed on greenmet and sell on average 2 a month, virtually everything I have sold has been non fiction.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
