Bonfire Night

Bonfire night just happens to coincide with my dad's birthday which this year I want to make it a bit special for him as we lost my mum earlier this year but I have 2 problems.
The first is I had a text from my brother the other day about it, suggesting we do something like a small party for the family and some fireworks somewhere, I replied that I thought this was a nice idea and never got another response, I have since discovered that he was expecting me to do this!!!
My second issue is that I am working away on 4th and 5th in Birmingham and won't be able to leave Birmingham until around 4pm and then have a 200 mile journey to get home anyway, so did not want to then have to start doing a party.
I can't afford or have the time to do a party and buy fireworks etc and told my sister this when she phoned me to tell me my brother was expecting to do it at my house and she understands, but I am now not sure what to do for my dad, and I am feeling really mean and guilty now, I was just thinking of taking the kids to a local bonfire if we can find one and asking my dad along
what should I do?
