Will I get a mortgage

I have a default on my credit file which falls off in April 2009. About 10 years ago I got into terrible debt but managed to pay all of this back. For the past couple of years I have had a high interest credit card and Next catalogue purely to improve my credit rating. I pay these off on time every month and don't have any other debt. I also have £26k to put down as a deposit on my next house. I live in rented accommodation at the moment.
Do you think I would get a mortgage when the default falls off? Both my partner and I work and earn £28k between us. Not looking to borrow more than £70k.

I doubt very much you'd have any problems, based on what you've said there.0

Thanks for your reply Andy - that does make me feel a lot better. It's been a long wait getting rid of this default - sometimes I wonder if I'd have been better off going bankrupt - I would still have only had to wait six years to get clean so to speak.0 -
My credit rating is much much worse than yours and I've just got a mortgage so I'm sure you'll be fine. More than likely get a highstreet one.0

Looks fine on all fronts.
You could probably get a mortgage agreed now if you wanted, based on high street ratesI am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it.
