It's not just Atlantic Energy. I got a letter from Southern Electric at the end of October, dated September about the price rise in August! I wouldn't have thrown it away if I'd know about the 10 day rule.

What are they doing ? Seriously horrified by this, in what other industry can such sharp practise be seemingly legal. The only comparison which springs to mind are petrol pump prices, fuel magnates seem to stick their fingers in their ears and loudly sing "lah lah lah, I can't hear you" for some time after the prices of crude drop.
I wonder what the EU has to say about this (Atlantic) are there any parameters out there to defend us mere mortals on the energy front. Rant, rant, rant, fed up. ******

Just received a letter from Southern Electric saying exactly the same thing.
I have recently swapped suppliers and gone to them as they were the cheapest. They didn't actually take over my account until 4th September.
I have just received a letter from them saying that they have backdated their price rice to 25th August 2008. I wasn't even a customer of theirs then and would not have swapped over had I known.
Gas is increasing by 29.2% and elec by 19.2%.
Shouldn't the regulator be protecting the customers instead of saying they can increase their prices and backdate for 65 days?

Can I now follow the same route as the Atlantic customers and complain?

really unhappy about this. Should have stayed with npower!

Same company - I would suggest all customers of atlantic/southern/swalec etc will be in the same boat
You've never seen me, but I've been here all along - watching and learning...
