Hi, I'm just back from my weekly shop at ASDA and was unfortunate enough to get an old battleaxe at the till. She wasn't too happy with my coupons (there was only £3 worth and it was a £50 shop. Anyway she proof read them and I informed her that they were all valid as she was being strict about the dates.I informed her just to scan them and if they didn't scan they wouldn't be acceptable but she said the till would still scan out of date coupons,I wouldn't think so. Anyway my coupons were all correctly dated, however ,she asked me about the Grazia magazine one and the Olive magazine one,she said she couldn't give me the discount without me buying the magazine and her supervisor confirmed this.Anyhoo, to cut a long story short she had scribbled all over the coupons and the supervisor told her to put them throughzzzzzzzz I will not go to her till again.

Yes, the out of date ones scan, as do ones from other stores, but the next day they usually come back from cash office with a note telling us to be more careful, and to check eligibility and expiry dates.I'm guessing thats maybe whats happened here. The policy is upto 10% of the total bill, and if the coupons state only at ASDA, you have to buy the product. Coupons that are for Sainsburys, Tescoetc are not accepted.
The money off vouchers that rival supermarkets release eg £10 off £40 spend etc might be accepted, but its best to check at customer services with these.July Grocery Challenge Budget £160

I was going to ask about the Tesco own coupons, whether they can be used at Asda? I'm sure I read on one of the threads that Asda do accept them. I know what it's like to be on the receiving end of a battleaxe! Just recently I went into Tesco, the supervisor stuck her oar in and said only 3 coupons allowed. Then on my last visit a different supervisor started to look at my coupons and scrutinise them along with my shopping.
She said that Tesco only accept 2 coupons! I said well that's not what I've been told. She says, "We've been told to clamp down on coupons." (What in just a matter of days since my last shop?) She tried to make me feel guilty by saying, "Did you buy any of these items?" Well, if they feel like that then they should stop coupons altogether. The girl on the till had put a 25p coupon through but the supervisor said it had to be cancelled. So the coupon was handed back to me, with a scribble on the back of it. I'll try and use it next time lol. They don't intimidate me.
Why do these people care so much, Tesco get the money back off the manufacturer. It's not as if everyone is handing in coupons, and I suspect that for every coupon handed in there are more shoppers buying the product without handing over the coupon. I just think these supervisors are on a power kick of some kind. It makes them feel superior as they try to belittle you by questioning you infront of other customers, and going over your coupons with a fine tooth comb.
Sorry about the rant, but they really do annoy me.0 -
AFAIK, If your asda is feeling the pinch from the competition, they'll take the total spend vouchers, but check at CS first. The money off item coupons, we've been told not to take them if they're for another store chain, and only if the customer has bought the product if they're ASDA specific. If its me on your checkout, I'll check the dates and valuidity, but, if I can, I'll take upto 10% of your bill in coupons. That is the policy, and it also aint gonna get me a rolliking if they go through the till log :xmassign:July Grocery Challenge Budget £160
