Student loan debt from 1993 - Question

Hi
I have had my light bulb moment this month and cant wait to start clearing my debts starting in Jan next year.
But this month out of the blue i had a letter from Fredrickson!International!Ltd
demanding i pay the outstanding amount on a student loan. (£1100) I had totally forgot about this loan i took out in 1993!!
It was a bit of a kick in the pants really because it added another £1100 to my current debt.
Has anyone had any experiance with student loans and with the loan being so old (12 years).

If I was you, I'd really check into this debt and that you actually do owe it - I had a nasty expereince with this company - letter out of the blue saying they were going to get bailiffs in etc etc.
The debt didn't exist - it never had - I checked on Equifax and Expererian, rang them up and found out it was allegedly with Mail Direct - i think it was Marshall ward, whom I have never used. I rang them up as Fredricskon wouldn't give me any details and they had never heard of me either. Fredrickson didn't have any paper work pertaining to this alleged debt either so i sent them a recorded letter asking for all details in writing and if there was nothing there then I would charge them £40 per letter sent to me and I would pursue them in the Small Claims Court for this money.
Needless to say, never heard a dicki bird after this.!!Noli nothis permittere te terere

Isn't there also a statutory 6 year rule, so if they haven't pursued the debt in 6 years or more, the debt has to be wiped and they can't legally demand the money?Lightbulb moment - October 2005
Debt at highest - £97,000
Debt now (15/06/07) - £83,908.47 (still  but every little helps!)
Debtfree Date - 2015 (but working on it)!
2007 Comp Challenge - £360/£0 (I have no luck with winning!)0 -
Im not sure that the statutory 6 year rule applies to student loans

It's since 6 years since you last acknowledged the debt - so if you have contacted the student loan company or anyone else stating details of the debt - they can still pursue you. If there has been no acknowledgment, then they can't pursue you after 6 years.

There has been no contact about the student loan until last month. I might have shot myself in the foot with this one because i have agreed to pay the debt collection people £55 pounds a month.
They sent a letter saying they would take me to court unless i started paying something so of course i panicked.0
