Jones the bootmaker - Sale

Just spotted that Jones the Bookmaker have started their sale. Not great bargains, but some lines are 30%+ off. Both online and in-store, and the shops seem to have plenty in each size ATM.

FYI Jones tends to occupy the upper-middle price band of the shoe retail market (don't bother following the link if you expect to pay less than £30 for a pair of shoes) and IMHO their own badged gents shoes are well made on a par with Church's shoes et al.

Surely thats Jones the Bootmaker? You've put Bookmaker in the title (hand your mind on other activities?

Thanks for the post. My wife toddled off to Nottingham today to get a new pair.

She tells me they'll last for years though

Jones and Church are now the same company (so I've heard). I like Jones AND Church shoes. Comfortable and stylish, although they don't last that long with me because I wear the heels out really badly.
Will tootle along in the next few days and see what there's left.Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.0 -

Agree the leather does wear out, but unlike cheaper shoes they are traditionally made, so can easily be repaired.
When I buy a pair I always wear them for a week (to scruff up the leather) then take them to a local cobblers to get a rubber strip glued on to the sole. When the heels wear out, I get the same cobbler to put in a bottom section to the heel, and opt for those with a replaceable rear quarter rubber bit as this bit goes quickest when I stride. This quarter can then be regularly replaced for a few pounds.
With a bit of cobblers handywork I can make a pair last 4 - 5 years which is considerably longer than a £50 pair of rubber soled Clarks.
