I need a new one. Just had my boiler serviced and British Gas quoted me £38 for one that is guaranteed for 5 years... Any recommendations?

I've recently bought one in Wickes for about £27. It is portable which was what I wanted. I am going to be working in the shed with fumes etc so needed one for there, but also we light a woodburner on a night so I can bring it in and sit it in the living room for the evening. We have also got one we bought ages ago by the boiler - I think that was about £25 from one of the DIY sheds. The portable one looks the same as the others really, it can be put in one place and left there - you don't have to cart it around like I do! It has a 5year warranty too0

I bought one 2 weeks ago in dixons. I think it should have been about £10.99 but went through till at £4.99.
Its just one that can be fixed to the wall but we have placed ours on a shelf just outside the kitchen (we rent the flat so cant drill holes in walls etc). Has a flashing green light to say that it is working and there is a guarantee.
Hope this helps.0 -

weve got the little stick on ones, really cheap around a fiver i think u can get them in hardware shops. the dot in the middle turns black if it detects carbon monoxide, you can stick one to each appliance (get a few in a pack), which would have been useful 3 years ago when our boiler was leaking, we only knew when we started getting headaches, when we moved out it was condemned in a week, lucky escape.Fr. Stack: While you were out, I got the keys to your car. And drove it into a big wall. And if you don't like it, tough. I've had my fun, and that's all that matters.0
