Returning goods and buying again?!

Every year i buy jewellery for my wife for Xmas and every year i use a discount voucher provided by the retailer.

As the voucher hadn't arrived and we are quickly getting cloer to Xmas, i purchased the items without the voucher. Gues what? Yes, today the voucher turns up.

Can i go back to the store, return the goods and then instantly buy back the goods using the voucher? (will save me £30 if i could).

If i can what is the best tact to take without feeling like a complete tight !!!!!! in front of the attractive sales staff?! :snow_laug

You can do that, but sorry you'll look like a tight !!!!!! either way! Maybe ask them to refund your for the voucher only it instead of going through the hassle of a full refund and then another purchase???
2p off is still 2p off!
  • Just take it back and go in the next day and buy it with the voucher. They wont realise its you again. Or jus go to another employee

Forget dignity when there is a few quid to save!

Having said that, if it was me, I would probably get a refund and then go back a day later with the voucher!

Remember, a refund will be at the shops discretion, unless its faulty
I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.

...........or take it back for a refund during the morning and return at lunchtime the same day (when hopefully the original assistant is at lunch) and speak to another assistant to buy the item with discount.

    Good luck:santa2:

:snow_laug This is a funny one and brightened my day up!

I can imagine you hiding behind the entrance looking in every now and again for the assistant to walk away and quickly running in only to find them returning again whilst in the middle of the transaction!

    Good luck anyway. :j
  • Tell them it's for your wife, but she's found out you didn't use the voucher and she's ready to kill you for wasting an extra £30!!! Then ask what to do, can you have a refund and buy again? I bet they'll feel sorry for you and put it 'in and out' of the till again for you!!!

    Just tell them the truth!!

It will be easy enough to put it through the till as an exchange, they'll include the voucher you have and then give you the refund for the difference.

Us shop assistants like customers to save money too you know :xmassmile
Sometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold...But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow...

a friend of mine does something similar every year. she buys clothes from major retailers for family xmas pressies, and keeps the receipts. then she hits the sales big time, and buys the same clothes, now with a massive reduction, which she then takes back the following day with the pre xmas full price receipts, and gets full price back. voila! xmas pressies at sale prices, IF you can afford the time to do it!

I would strongly suspect that was fraud.
