Can any hairdressers recommend Hair dye like high lift tint?

Hi,
I have my hair highlighted and like the effect high lift tint gives it. I'm not keen on bleach highlights.
Can anyone recommend a blonde hair dye that will give the same effect? I want to give myself some highlights with a cap and a willing asssistant.
I'd be looking for a light neutral blonde, veering to ash shades.

As far as I know only bleach will lighten your hair Im afraid. My daughter is out tonight so I cant ask her, shes a trainee stylist.

Might be safer to check out local colleges that do hairdressing. Will be very much cheaper than a normal salon. Will take longer but might save a hair disaster by trying it yourself. They will use proper salon dyes. They often do some evenings too if you work. Also think about what you will do about maintenance of the roots. A cap method would not be easy for this.
Also if you have long hair, especially if any thickness to it avoid using a cap. I went to a terrible salon and they used a cap once, never ever again. My roots and scalp hurt so much after the pulling and tugging that i thought my hair might fall out. The dye process and rinsing matts up the hair making taking the cap off hell. Plus all the pulling of the hair through the holes.0 -
From what I remember from my hairdresser days is that high lift tint will lighten virgin hair (that is untreated with any other dye). It would only lift to blonde on hair that is mousey in colour. If darker you would end up with ginger, orange etc. Not a good look. You need to use 12% volume peroxide to achieve the highest lift of shades.
I tend to agree with others though. You could probably get it done more reasonably by a home hairdresser. If you already have highlights, then only the unbleached/ unlightened hair will be lifted by the tint.
Bleached highlights can be toned down with tint in ash shades using 6% peroxide. I do my friends through the cap and she finds it ok, wheras I used to have sneezing and watering eyes from it!
If you are determined to do it yourself, then a branch of Sallys is your best bet, but the staff are not allowed to advise you on the products (again from what I remember).
