Thank you all for your help & comments.
Probably not what I wanted to hear but thank you for taking the time out to respond.0 -
I have two 25 year endowments policies to cover my mortgage, both mature in April next year. Unfiortunately they were bought through a crooked IFA who the building society manager recommended.
I couldnt claim for misselling, and now looks like the two policies will only cover half the mortgage. But nice to know that SL still pays bonuses to it's management  Is there a link to check the value of individual endowments and how they are progressing or not ?0 -
You can register to check how your policies are doing on-line. It takes about 5 minutes but you have to wait for a password to arrive by post. Follow the link at post #11 above.

It's a lot less stressful having the money in my control.

But it's a lot less fun for the rest of us. Your monthly updates were a highlight of my sad little life, that's for sureHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
 We are in exactly the same boat, we were advised to cash in our policy as it was not going to make any sense keeping it going. rang up yesterday only to find that we have lost since february this year £1400.00 out of our bonus. they have done this twice this year Aug and Oct, as i was informed yesterday. Its bad enough that these policies were sold to us promising not only to pay off your sum but you would also have a lump sum left over, that they can take away your bonus as well on a policy that is "with attached Bonus's" The only bonus is that we have now cashed it in and paying the lump off the mortgage and ridding ourselves of this so called proffesional Company!!!
And another thing your statement that is dated February doesnt arrive untill June so you have no chance in actually tracking it other than on line.
Standard Life, its a total rip off, they should not be allowed to take money away from you without prior notice, surely that is not consumer fair?
Sorry for the rant but you know what I mean:rolleyes:0 -

Think yourself lucky that you can do that, I wish I could. My info isn't available online, so each time requires a couple of phone calls at least, as invariably the info doesn't seem to turn up after the first one. Damn postal service eh... :rolleyes:Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
I sympathise to some extent but, regardless of what the salesman says, you need to do your own research and to understand what you are buying. It doesn't matter if it's a timeshare, a car or an endowment policy.
Twenty years ago, nobody forecast the current turmoil or the unprecedented years of low inflation.
Beware the smiling assassin.
