Can anyone recommend a mortgage advisor?

Hi all, was wondering if anyone could recommend a good mortgage advisor who deals in self-certification mortgages, preferably in or around the Darlington area, and who doesnt charge high fees. The fees free one I previously used has closed. There are lots of advisors in the yellow pages and internet but don't know where to start. I prefer to rely on recommendations from past satisifed customers. Also some won't touch self-cert customers with a barge pole!

I was ill for a while and was on incapacity benefit on and off for a couple of years. Have since started working again full time self-employed but dont have any proof of income for this period yet.0

I'm sure quite a few adviserd would be glad of your business in the current climate.
I'd ring around a few to see whether they charge or not, or what they chargeI am a Mortgage adviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. I have already narrowed down a few who deal with self certs and are free or low fees but how to know which to pick? I was hoping someone who lives in the area and has used an advisor recently would read this thread and give me a recommendation. Rang a couple of mainstream ones lately and they didn't seem interested to put it mildly so I am probably looking at the 'sub-prime' area. I do have a large deposit however.0

Why would you be looking at sub-prime if you have got a good credit history?
You would look at prime ratesI am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Exactly. Self cert and sub prime don't necessarily go together.
You can have a fantastic credit rating, but might not have enough books to satisy some lenders.
There are lenders out there who only do self cert for people with A1 credit ratings. Yes the rates might be a bit higher than the highstreet, but cetainly not sub prime ratesI am a Mortgage adviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. I think self-cert is getting harder to find. But I've been very happy with the services of the advisor who set up a self-cert for us 3 years ago (and is now advising us on a status mortgage); if you'd like his name and number, send me a message.0
