  • Who uses first class postage?
Hi I would always send cards letters second class in plenty of time but if something is urgent then I would send first class. I decided to make all my own cards last Christmas and enjoyed doing them, and was also making birthday cards to send to family and good friends. I had to stand in the post office for ages nearer Christmas when it is so busy, and have them all weighed and there were quite a lot, so this year I am only making cards fr those I can hand out and have bought some nice cards which I will write out for those I need to post too. I am disappointed in doing this but the price of postage is too expensive now.

If the parcel has stamps on, we have no idea which class it is so we have to add up the value of the stamps to get the price paid. Take the parcel to the scales and weigh it, then go to the chart and look up the weight/price paid to find out which class it is, then find a pen and write the class on the parcel.

Until you get a jobsworth who counts it up for you! The more stamps does equal the less likely they will check.

I always use 1st class for eBay items, its just part of the service I offer, when I buy something I want it fairly quickly so I would hope they want the same!

    Who uses second class postage?
If a parcel has a label on it, that label will have a big "1" or "2" on it to indicate which class it should go.

    .

No it won't. A parcel has SP on the label. There are no classes to parcels - it means Standard Parcel. Second class speed - yes, but a standard price.

I think you are referring to packets - a technicality I know but an important one.

As for me, I generally use second class, only resorting to first if it really needs to get there quickly.
