If not earning, can I have name on house deed?

Options
Hello
I am a housewife looking after our young child, I am currently only working a few days a month. We are living in my husband's house which he brought many years ago before we got together. We are looking for another house. Because I am not earning, and I do not have any savings etc, can my name be placed on the house deeds if I will not be paying the mortgage? And in event of anything in the future not working out between us, if my name is not on the deed, do I have any rights as a wife and mother of a child?
Thanks, tripit

yes your name can appear on the deeds ... lots of stay at home mothers have their names so.
Your mortgage will probably need to be joint but that should be no problem.

Much better to have the ownership joint otherwise things would need to go to court to resolve issues.

Also, assuming you are joint tenants, the house automatically becomes yours should your husband die (or vice versa of course).

Will definitely need to be joint.

As long as the one income can support the mortgage, there should be no problem with that though ( assuming your credit score is OK)
