it makes me glad I live oop North!!! 1.5 million for a terraced house! (albeit a 7 bedroomed one!!):eek:0

here in my neighbourhood (shoreham by sea) prices are down by 5% (advertised prices!). flat for £199k last summer are now £189. weather or not these are selling remains to be seen.0

Not everywhere down here is expensive - I live 30 mins train journey from central london and my 3 bed terrace is worth about £165,000. You can even buy 3 beds for as little as £130,000 in my town now - St Evenage`
In your opinion, are these affordable?:wall:

..and + about £300 for train ticket every month, and that does not include the tube
That's equal roughly to +£50K mortgage if one person is commuting and +£100K if two ...All my life my mother told me the storm was coming (c) Terminator 30 -

I think even if you lived in London you would be spending about £100 a month on travel plus the extra living costs / congestion charge / council tax0 -

yes but you will need to pay for travelcard too if your office is not close to a rail station
why congestion charge if you are already paying £100 for public transport, I do not think many people commute to Central London by car ... council tax is probably not much different in Zone 5 or 6 ...All my life my mother told me the storm was coming (c) Terminator 30 -

Dont need a travel card you just get your ticket to take you to the stn of your office eg bank - my council tax band is c ( 3 bed terrace ) my MIL lives in Elephant and castle living in a 2 bed flat and is band D.
I think it evens itself out in the end but the difference is I can see farm land and woods from outside my window.0 -
ive lowered mine now down to what the 2 bed roomed properties are going for in my area infact ive lowered it to what the house next door went for in 2004 and i will see the response now and see if there is anyone out there looking, for a 3 bedroomed house at this price i should attract some viewers ill re assess if anyone makes a offer, if i dont i may have to drop again.
What im gambling on is that people will take a lot lower than what they are actually asking for their houses, but im not prepared to make offers until ive got a offer for mine, so im in a catch 22 situation.
But having thought about it, i could knock my house down 80% and i might get a offer, but that doesnt mean ive got to take it. so i think ill try this and see what happens.
I think what people have got their houses up for and what they are getting is going to be a fair bit different, infact a lot of houses by me have got under offer instead of sstc, is this to alert other buyers someone as made a silly offer and then hope other people will go in with their offers??
Ill see how it goes and report back, i know its a lot lower than similar houses, but im not desperate to sell, so if i do get a offer and cant find anywhere else i will just have to hang on where i am now.
