Evening guys,
Its our second anniversary and my partner loves her older Cannon 5 megapixel camera, which she now agrees its time for updating, since she uses it constantly.
Anyway....
We're going shopping in Glasgow tomorrow to hopefully find a great bargain but I'd like to go armed with some knowledge.
Is anyone aware of any great bargains to be had - ideally sticking with Cannon - unless i'm barking up the wrong tree!
Thanks

You can't go wrong with Canon, and if you pick a camera in the IXUS range, you will be laughing. all depends on your budget, but there should be an IXUS to suit any budget unless it you want to spend under £100. Plus sticking with Canon, will allow you to reuse your memory card, providing the one you have doesn't use CF cards.0

Why? I have a 10Mp DSLR and a 4Mp point and shoot and the 4Mp is good for enlargements to 20x30" and I wouldn't consider wasting money on an upgrade. BTW that's not because the DSLR exists as I tend to use the p&s more as its more conevenient. My mobile has a 5Mp camera and its nowhere near as good as the 4Mp.
Put the money towards something new and different eg. look at the new Sanyo Xacti range of digital camcordrs (CG9 etc) which also take 8Mp stills. Just IMO0 -
The new ones probably look better too. Size might be an issue, and a smaller camera might be easier to cart around. There are numberous reasons to upgrade with the ever falling price of technology.
But yes, I agree about the Xacti's. I used to have one and it took fantastic photos (for a point and shoot) and the video was much better than the standard point and shoots could record.0 -
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere (please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. Megapixels dont mean you are getting a good camera !0 -
Too true deanos! So many people get caught up with numbers. My EOS300D is 6MP, but it will wipe the floor with any point and shoot that claims 8/9/10MP.0
