Just got home from my break at work to find I have recieved a Debt collection letter from Mercers, Sayin that my Barclaycard is over its agreed credit limit and that I need to make a payment of £144.27 by 27th December or further action will be taken,
I have spoken to Barclaycard and told them my situation. As it is Christmas and nye is arriving, I cant really afford to make this payment until January and dont really want to be taken to court or anything like that. So what can I do?
I have heard people talking about letter which can be sent to companies you owe money to explaining the situation, what sort of information would I need to put in this letter? Has anyone got an example I could take a ganders at?
Thanks in advance ...
Carl

The only action they'll take is to slap an over limit charge on you. Ignore it, Mercers are PART of Barclaycard.0

Sound's a load of balls!
Offer a payment say £5 for December then pay what they are asking for in January!
When you have no more Debt with them give them the f!ng£r.
Barclaycard are 'Stoneage' with customer relations, they still think there are top dog with the 80's Alan Wicker Ad's. :snow_laug
Better going elsewhere! :j

Hi
I had the same letter about 3 weeks ago asking me for £204, i rang up Mercers and told them i could not pay the full amount and would like to come up with some payment plan. At first they said i had to pay the full amount, i told them there was no way in the world that was going to happen and that i was only prepared to pay them £30 a month. I explained to them it was that or nothing. They agreed
Be strong with them, don’t let them make you feel like a criminal.0 -
Thanks, Ill ring them up now. Will let you know how I got on.
They gave me until 12th January to make payments, which is fine. Will collect a bit of money over the next few weeks from work so works out better.0 -
Good luck *fingers crossed*
