Unusual way out of debt. Sound a bit of a scam?

Hello all, I was approached on the street this morning by a very pretty woman who claimed to be working on behalf of a modelling agency who are currently recruiting.
Apparently I am just what they are looking for! (Lanky slightly hungover unshaven monkey?!?!) and would I be interested? Hmmmmm, could do with the extra cash and all that. What do I have to do? Sign up with them for £100 which is for some test photos and up to 10 interviews a year!
Now the cynical side of me sees the UP TO 10 interviews a year as you will have none but someone will get 10 (maybe).
A scam do you reckon?
I have searched on the internet and they are a valid agency

Any good, reputable agency will not ask you to pay any money for photos! You'll get nice photos but you will most probably be told that you're not exactly what they're looking for!Kate

As far as I am aware, agencies are meant to pay YOU for working for them...

Perhaps you can suggest they do the photos for free but take the £100 out of the first work / pay cheque they find / get for you.
Surely if you are such a great prospect and potential money spinner for the agency they won't mind investing £100 in you.
........of course if its a scam they may object...0 -
My friend is a model (Beautiful, intelligent and nice, damn I'm jealous) and she has never had to pay anything, she started off with polaroids and home photos and her agency helped her to get new photos free with budding photographers, make up artists etc - basically they all work together for nothing as they all need to build up portfolios to get work. Up to 10 interviews a year? She spends more time at interviews than she does getting her picture taken and she earns a fab living.
As for this company avoid, avoid, avoid!!!0 -
Hi
Many years ago my sister got had by these con-merchants, basically you pay for a professional set of studio pictures. My sis ended up paying for the whole set of full size pics and paid out around £700 for the privalege. The £100 would probably get you one pic of yourself professionally done. The rest could be yours if you are prepared to pay.
They are not an agency, just people flogging professional portraits in a dodgy manner.

When I was starting out as a make up artist I would team up with a wannabee model and a wanabee photographer and we would do the whole photo shoot together in order to get some pictures for our portfolios. So if you think you can make a go of being a model you could approach some student photographers at a nearby college and someone on a make up/beauty course and get yourself a porfolio to take to agencies.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040

Thanks for the replies. Well I think that as I don't have a problem of woman staring so starry eyed at me that they walk into lampposts and the sort I will call time on my new career before it starts

Oh well, what could have been eh? :santa2:0
