Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
My OH uses oatmeal rather than oats, looks much smoother than real porridge but not sure how it compares to Ready Brek. He's not here but I think he makes it with half milk/half water. I prefer porridge thick and lumpy and made with water!!
Don't put it down, put it away - thanks Valli

I'm with you, Hippy! Love porridge made with water and a bit lumpy :D. I normally have it plain without sugar, but have to admit that my treat is with some demerera sugar. I pinch the brown sugar sachets from cafes for that! I don't take sugar in my coffee, so I reckon I'm entitled to 2 per visit :D.

Try what my elderly, slightly bonkers, neighbours do and make it with cream!! Tell your kids not to be cissies and to eat the proper thing else they will go hungry! Or just mix some proper oats into the ready brek, a wee bit more each time until they are eating proper porridge. That might go down a bit better!
  • try adding a little golden syrup or brown sugar to regular oats, also 1 teaspoon of butter. This gives it a toffee flavour and it is really nice.

  • CHALK?????? IN READY BREK??? MINE NEVER ATE IT, SO I NEVER HAD CAUSE TO READ THE LABEL BUT jeeeeez!

Don't find that so awful myself but only because I used to eat sticks of chalk by the boxful when I was pregnant with all three of my daughters.I used to crave the stuff like a mad woman. With daughter number 1,I used to dip in it marmite. My doctor said it would'nt harm and would be full of calcium.Mind you they all have brilliant teeth,so perhaps there's something in it and they're all in their 30s will no adverse effects.
