Internal en suite shower rooms often develop a musty smell after a while, in spite of running the fan, keeping the door open and being particular about cleanliness.
I solved the problem when this smell developed after 6 months in this new build house. I bought a powerful steam cleaner from aldi for about £50. 1000 watts and 4 bar pressure. I steamed the parts that no cloth could ever reach and 6 month worth of bits and pieces shot out of the most minute crevices. A quick wipe down afterwards with cif and the freshness had come back to stay.
I now do the crevices once every week and my en suite remains fresh. It has been an amazing result
