My DMP Diary

  • Well I had my first "contact" today. A standard letter from Tesco credit card notifying me that a default sum of £12 has been levied to my account. Apparently, due to amendments to the Consumer Credit Act they are now required to give notice of when default charges have been applied to accounts.

No phone calls yet, and nothing back from CCCS yet either. But I have my standing order ready to go for a 1st December start so hopefully I'll have heard something by then!

  • hi skint and scared and good luck well done for joining us,we started our dmp 2 years ago then we were looking at 50k of debt to clear in 17 years now its down to clear in 11 as we have been able to increase payments due to my new job, ours is a rocky ride as our creditors aren't playing ball but i hope you have more success and wish you lots of luck
  • And I have just had my first phone call ... at work. From Abbey National (the one I have a credit card AND overdraft with and am most terrified of as I owe them the most overall). She asked if it was okay to talk and could she ask me some security questions. I stayed very calm and just said I'm sorry I can't talk at work, but you are welcome to phone me at home after 6.30pm. She was a little shocked that I didn't sound more scared I think... Anyway, we'll see what they say later...

  • Well Abbey are STILL calling ... now Thursday, Friday and today but ALL at work, at lunchtime. Each time I have very politely said that I would be very happy to talk to them, but NOT at my desk in the middle of an open plan office. I have double checked they have my home phone number and said I would be happy to speak to them at home after 6.30pm any evening (it's not like I go out anywhere!!) They said that they tried to call me on Saturday but I'm afraid I just don't believe that as I was home all day apart from one hour, when my OH was home and says the phone didn't ring once.

Barclaycard phoned today too but I was just walking to my desk. My colleague picked the call up and managed to cut them off trying to transfer the call to me. I hoped they would call straight back and I could ask them to also phone me at home in the evening but they didn't. I'm sure they'll call back tomorrow....

My budget plan and list of what they will pay to who has arrived from CCCS. There's lots of helpful info in the booklet which tells me what I should say to people and how I should respond if certain things come through the post, like CCJ threats, etc.

I've had a couple of late payment letters - from Abbey and Tesco - but nothing too bad yet. Mind you, I haven't had any letters that they've accepted my DMP yet either!

  • Abbey called again today. Instead of asking them (AGAIN) to phone me at home, I took their number and went outside with my mobile and rang them back. Spoke to a very nice man who took my work number off the system and replaced it with my proper home number (despite giving it to them each time they've called, they STILL had my old home number on their system) and he's put everything on hold until they hear from CCCS. I said they are welcome to call me at home if they need to ask me anything else.

  • ... then an hour later, guess what.... ABBEY CALLED AGAIN!! Explained I'd called an hour ago and changed all my numbers, given my CCCS number and explained about the DMP. He apologised and said they wouldn't contact me again....
