But please everyone, bear in mind that diabetics don't need to eat specific foods! There are a lot of myths out there, such as the one that says we're not allowed to eat sugar (ha!), but in truth we just need to eat a balanced, healthy, varied diet, exactly the same as everybody else is supposed to.
I've had type 1 for 21 years (growing up diabetic is a PITA), and I get fed up with people trying to make me eat diabetic chocolate, which is an enormous scam, or making a fuss when we go out to dinner.
Sorry, I seem to be jumping up and down on my soapbox again - my blood sugar must be high...
