Hi there:
I'm currently working in Asia and need to remortgage my house in the UK. I'm still in the UK tax year and my wife (joint owner) still works in the UK.
Any ideas on the best place to look and what kinda mortgage would be most beneficial for a loan of 195K?
ADDING the following post response from herbiessjp (cheers):
Property value about 275+K as justcompleted extension and need to get it valued (also taking into consideration the current climate!).
Two incomes are about 100K gross.

Based on the added figures - you should be fine to find a new deal
Who is your current lender and what have they offered?
Once you have that - I'd say get in contact with a whole of market adviser
These have been straightforward in the past - no problems with countries like Bermuda, Libya, Portugal, New Zealand etc
But in the current climate the requirements may just be a little higher in terms of your employment status - your wife should be fineI am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Some lenders want you to be employed by a multi national company if you are working abroad.
