Depends what the family enjoy but the Olympics has a few races/games to choose from. Mario kart (can get Wii steering wheels) is good fun as long as there's a few of you. Tiger Woods golf (can get Wii golf club) is good for the men.

I have a few but i still prefer Wii sports, the one you get with the game.
  • My lot are getting Mario Kart with their Wii this Xmas. Seems to be at the top of the games chart and has been recommended by a friend. Also the Sonic and Mario Olympics is meant to be good. We'll also be getting Wii Play, which has a selection of games and comes with a free controller.

thanks guys glad to hear the wii sports is good do you need a controller and nunchuck for each person or would a controller each be enough?
Mario cart sounds good too as the youngest is only 4 would the console work with 4 player having 2 controllers and 2 steering wheels. Hope to get the wheels for the kids.

    Keep the suggestions coming please

Mario Kart and Sonic and Mario Olympics are both favourites here. We had one steering wheel but didn't like it so we just play with the controllers. On Mario Kart, you can go online and play other people. If you tell friends your code, you can meet in the game online.

We've also got Big Brain Academy and Smarty Pants which are family quiz type games that are fun too.

My boys are asking for a Cranium Wii game for Christmas which looks fun.
Here I go again on my own....

i would say mario kart and tiger woods, you get wii sports free anyway with the wii.
for 4 people i would just 2 nunchucks and 2 wiimotes unless you will all be playing together most of the time then you need 4 of each.
classic controllers are good for the download games though of which there are loads to choose from.
i have lots of games for the wii but to be honest yeah great fun for the physical games but if just playing normal games buy them for the ps2 (if you have one) as a lot cheaper.

Sonic and Mario olympics is very good - recommended! The other one they love is Kung fu Panda but this is probably just as good on PS2 and a lot cheaper as another poster said. If you have a PS2 then get the non-physical games for that console.

However saying all that the Wii SPorts you get with the console and is excellent fun, will give you many hours of play!

great thanks everyone yes have a ps2 so thanks for the tip on getting the non physical games on that, i will do that.
Wanted the wii for the physical games, tennis etc to get a bit of different game play so we can all join in.
When we get it out to play it will likley be 4 of us or at least 3 so do you have to get the nunchucks to be able to play or does it still work with just the remotes?

As my current shopping list is looking like

    3 x remotes
    3 x nunchucks
    mario cart

    possibly 2x steering wheels

Any good offers around on the remotes etc?

    Thanks
