Car boot sale - does electrical & kids stuff sell ?

Hi I am about to do my first ever Car Boot sale as we have just had a big clearout of our loft. As I've never done one before I wondered if electrical items sell at all ? I've got 2 old TV's and 2 CRT monitors and would love to get rid of them (They all work) I'm not after much for them probably £5-10 each but I've got a feeling they will just not sell.
Most of my other stuff is childrens toys and clothes which are all in really good condition. I'm planning on selling these items at about 50p each, I'm a bit unsure as whilst I want to sell all this stuff I don't want just give it away and find it on another stall later.
The sale I am probably doing is at Splott in Cardiff this Thursday !
PS. All the kids stuff that's not sold at the end of the day will be given away to the charity shops here.

i think electrical, kitchen and childrens stuff are the best sellers.
i think clothes and toys are the worst sellers - i usually end up selling a couple of items of clothing and taking the rest to the charity shop. if the clothes are good brands you will probably get more for them on ebay.
you can't expect people to pay much for things at a car boot sale. they all want something for nothing! if you have anything worth more than say, £10 i would sell it in the local paper or ebay.
good luck - it's great fun doing a car boot sale -
the best tip i can give you is to put your table in your car last so you can get it out first, people will try to grab things out of your car so i keep them back with the table whilst i unload everything!0 -
Personally I wouldn't be comfortable buying electrical goods at a car boot - but lots of people do so you shouldn't have any trouble selling them.
Children's clothes don't seem to sell all that well in my experience. Even on ebay if they don't have a brand name or a character on them, they don't sell well.
As for the toys, maybe it's worth checking on ebay to see what they have sold for and that should give you a very rough idea what they are worth at a car boot. People generally expect to pay less at a car boot, and that's usually ok because you don't have to worry about listing fees and paypal fees and the hassle of posting the item. Sometimes it's worth accepting a bit less to just get it over and done with.0 -
We have just done a car boot sale and we struggled to get over £4 for anything. We noticed other stalls with computer monitors on marked up at £2.50 and they were still there at the end. the only electrical items we sold was a single elctric blanket (new) for £4 and a small lamp £1.
Be prepared for people to really haggle you down, and if if you get really narked just tell them you have changed yourmind and it isn't for sale!
As mentioned above, people expect to pay a lot less that ebay, remind them that there isn't any P&P to pay!!Jane 21120 -

I have done many car boot sales and in my experience electrical goods sell pretty well - where I can go you can plug them in and test them.
Clothes are a waste of time as most people rummage through them and dont buy - if you have hanging space then bit better but would really say no to selling clothes unless designer.
car boot sales can be alot of fun but you will get some people haggling over the most sillies of things so be ready and dont get uptight with this, and you should have a laugh.I get paid to party!:rotfl:0
