Discharged bankrupt needs car insurance - HELP!

Hi,
Last year my mum in law paid for my car insurance in one go (all up front) for me and I've still got to pay her back for it. It's due to be renewed in January and I don't want to ask her again.
My question is ... I can afford the monthly payments easily but can't afford all of it up front ... because I have a terrible credit rating being a dishcarged bankrupt (as of August this year) I don't know if I can get a monthly DD insurance agreement because it's basically a credit agreement isn't it?
Has anyone come across this before and are there companies out there that will do it?
Many thanks guys ... this forum has kept me going!
B xx

Yes you can get it. You only have to tell them you are BR if your credit is going to be over £500.

Try a comparison website first to check different quotes and depending on the age/value of your car check to see if TPFT makes it any cheaper for you.

Some insurers will ask you if you are BR upfront on their websites, some do not, some change! Before you buy though, search through their T&Cs on the policy documents just to double check. It will take a little longer, but all in should not be a problem.

ALSO - and the important bit - your current insurers. Call them to check a quote first and see if you can change straight to direct debits. If you do nothing, they will assume you want insurance with them, the same way as last year and will just insure you and deduct the money from MILs credit card, like last time! (almost all policies are rolling policies these days) so you must ensure you deal with them or cancel the rolling bit of the policy a month before the end date.
