Will my bankruptcy affect partner?

Hello,
This is my first post, I spoke to the cccs nearly 3 years ago, and was advised to go Bankrupt. I have credit card debts of over 60k. I have no joint credit cards or loans or bank accounts with my wife, we rent a house together, the lease is in both our names. I have no assets, the car is in my wifes name and only worth about £800. Could somebody please tell me if my pending bankruptcy will affect my wife in any way.
Thanks

Even though you are going BR alone I think if she works, on your SOA it will have to be shown what she gives to the household bills.

  • She does work, we pay 50/50 on the rent & bills etc, what I am concerned about is any negative effect it may have on her/.

It will have no detrimental effect on her if you have nothing joint at all.

She will need to be included though in your SOA - household income and expenditure, as contributing to the household expenses, but thats it. If the car is in her name and has been for sometime, that will not matter.

It may affect your renting and what that contract states about a tenant going BR. Double check it. Some landlords do not like BRs (only a few) but in this climate they cannot be chosey, but its best to check it out - this could be the only thing that may affect her.
