i was in adsa today and they had some new mild cheddar smart price 200g for 80p and a 400g that didnt have a price (we normally by the variable weight pre-packed mild cheddar).
the new value pack was so rubbery and bendy that i didnt buy it we brought the irish wexford mild cheddar for £2.28 for 400g. I only like mild or med cheddar and only just gone on to medium one day we will eat mature!!!0 -
I think its a cheap version of Feta. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.0

Yes, the salad cheese is like feta. The 'rubbery' value cheese freebiequennie describes is actually Gouda, 'jonge kaas' (young cheese) as the dutch call it - not matured, but soft and mild. Delicious if you like Gouda, probably not for you if you want a sharp matured cheese though.0

I buy the salad cheese to use instead of feta - it's not quite the same as the texture is slightly different and it doesn't have the depth of flavour that feta has but it's a lot cheaper and more than tasty enough.Don't judge people on they way they look, the way they speak or what they're called because they can't help that.
Only judge people on what they say and what they do.0 -
I like the salad cheese a lot.. it's a feta type cheese - obviously not 'the same' but it is nice and for the price you can't beat it!On the up

Its good stuff, my kids found feta too sharp and soury but will eat this quite happily.0

I have to disagree; I found it poor, rubbery and tasteless. Will not be buying it again!
The world would be boring if we were all the same though....0 -

I'm with you peb - I'm a big fan of decent feta, and found the salad cheese quite horrible!
Have just discovered that Morrison's do a reduced fat feta though, and it is really nice! never found a lower fat one which was any good before...will def. buy that again, but I steer clear of the SP Salad cheese, much as I usually buy SP everything! The best advice you can give your children: "Take responsibility for your own actions...and always Read the Small Print!"

the feta may be a bit ropey, but the 80p 'mild cheese' which is actualy Gouda is really very good - if you like Gouda that is :-)0
