My ex has stopped working from where his deduction of earnings was placed. Previous to this he job hopped, again to avoid the deduction of earnings. I've now been told he is claiming benefits and had a nil calculation. I'm confused as I thought while on benefits there was a minimum contribution?

so did i, i thought there was a £5 per week set amount he should be paying.
do you know if he left his job of his own free will? if he did then he wont be entitled to job seekers for a few weeks so that would make you get a nil assessment for maintainence0 -
Thanks for that - that would make sense because he left previous employment to escape paying. He owes me a lot in arrears. Does the fact I'm nil assessment mean he won't be pursued for it?0

I would give it a couple of weeks then call them and ask them to review it. My ex hopped twice and got a nil assesment but I knew che wouldn't stay out of work for long.... I called them and asked them to check with inland revenue again and low and behold he had another job and a new deo... Eventually he got the message and has been in the same job since... It did take them a few weeks to sort out but I don't think they would of bothered checking again if I hadn't asked them to...A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... That's really good advice, thanks for that. And I've got a feeling your right - he wouldnt stay out of work long (although my one fear is he might be cash in hand.) Fingers crossed x0

Even if he's working cash in hand now, eventually he will have to get a proper job.... And all those lovely arrears will still be waiting for him...A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls...
