Okay, been looking about, and both registerfly.com and eurodns.com (I recommend the latter) are giving away free .be domain name registrations until the 31st January 2006 (if I recall correctly).
Registerfly.com allows upto 10 .be registrations, and eurodns.com allow upto 20. They get registered for 1 year free, after that its $20 a year.
I have 7 .be domain names at the moment, fitzchivalry.be, audacia.be, smileydave.be (my boyfriends domain), euneos.be, prideeuropa.be, drwho.be and dalladay-morgan.be.
Okay, .be is the domain extension for belgium, but anyones allowed to register! So why not?
You get full control over the domain, for dns, mail, etc and even nameservers if you want to transfer to another dns provider. You can also change IPS tag to the registrar you want to use.
Wasn't sure where to post this, so I assumed here would be okay.
Oh... some information...
DNS : Domain Name Server. This controls the IP (an internet "address"/postcode to identify every computer online) of the servers hosting your website.
IPS : a "tag name" that identifies each domain registrar, each IPS tag is unique.

Had a look at http://www.eurodns.com/info/price.php it quotes the set-up fee as -$16.00 and the Annual fee as $20.00 plus vat. I also did a search for fitzchivalry. On Google and got 30,000 hits. Tried fitzchivalry.be and got none On trying further searches it came up with.
fitzchivalry.be
This domain name has been registered through Eurodns s.a. on behalf of a client and was filled with related content automatically.
Sorry could not find out what the related content was related to.

I can see both are giving the .be for free... but do you have to supply credit card details to register the domains?
Do you know how difficult it is to cancel it after the year, as I'm assuming they will just debit your card without warning every year?0 -

Umm, I've only recently just registered the domains, I've yet to actually do the websites for them - they take time to build you know
It says $20 a year yes, but when you actually register it, it doesn't cost, says setup -$20 or something like that... it registers it free for a year... then its up to you to build a website. It puts the domains to a holding page until to change the dns, nameservers or forwarding.
Umer: I didn't have to put in any credit card details for eurodns.com at all. Registerfly.com requires it, however. This is why I recommended eurodns.com~ Thom

Is there anyway that your details are not posted on the whois database? I don't want loads of spam?0

Yeah, there is a way, but that does cost - Whois optout... usually a few $$'s
registerfly do it for free at the moment (but you have to use a credit card there). ~ Thom

Umm, they confirm the registration via your email address... It takes 24 hours for the domain to become active... What I did was signup for a random account on yahoo and used that... so I won't get spammed :P~ Thom
