The Online Shopping Challenge for 2 people!

Hi everyone,

I thought I would create a thread to keep people updated on my new found fun of using www.mysupermarket.com

My partner and I historically spend £400(ish - it varies month to month by £20 or so) on food for the both of us.

So, we have now made a decision to try and cut this back a bit and shop online with mysupermarket.com, while also using the e-voucher for saving £4.50 on delivery charges (what we would spend on petrol going to the supermarket!).

We made our first order last night and it will be delivered this evening!! We brought 70 items for £68, but we did find we used the offers pages a lot on each section and based our weekly meals around these offers!
Another plus side is that we got to spend more time together doing this from the comfort of our lounge as opposed to my partner going alone (I don’t like grocery shopping!!).

So, I will update this with how much we saved!!

It would be interesting to find out what other people (couples) spend a month on food??

What on earth do you buy?
Myself and my husband only go to Tesco once per month and spend £150 on dried/tinned/frozen stuff e.g. cous cous, pasta, porridge oats, cereals, tins of beans, frozen fish etc
Then we go to our local Butcher once per week and spend £10 on decent fresh meat (only eat meat 3 times per week) and to the greengrocer where we spend £10 on fruit and veg. (Trying to reduce our food miles)
If you like online shopping there is a local fruit and veg place that delivers called riverford.co.uk which does free delivery.

This means we spend ~£230 per month for the two of us - we hate supermarket shopping too but we won't do it online because of the delivery cost, plus we live really near to Tesco (15 min drive).

Good on you trying to cut that bill down! There are four of us, two adults and two little children and I don't spend anywhere near that in a month!

I do use coupons to cut my bill and shop around. We aso grow our own stuff and look out for reductions - got a great load the other day - about £100 worth of stuff for £17 on reductions, minus a few coupons - result!
    3 kids(DS1 6 Nov, DS2 8 Feb, DS3 24 Dec) a hubby and two cats - I love to save every penny I can!

Have you looked at the grocery challenge on the 'Old Style' Board?
